BITSAT 2027 — Pattern, Syllabus, Cutoff and 120-Day Plan

In short: BITS Pilani has not released the BITSAT 2027 notification as of October 28, 2026, and registration is expected around December. The exam is a 3-hour online test with 130 questions, +3 for a correct answer and -1 for a wrong one. In 2026, the final-iteration cutoff for B.E. Computer Science was 308 at Pilani, 274 at Goa and 272 at Hyderabad. This guide gives the pattern, the cutoff trend from 2023 to 2026, a score-versus-accuracy table I calculated, and a 120-day plan you can count back from your Session 1 date.

Beware of fraud

The BITS admissions portal carries a notice warning against calls, emails, SMS and social media messages that offer direct admission to BITS Pilani. It names admissions.bits-pilani.ac.in as the only official website. Do not pay anyone who promises a seat.

What Is Confirmed and What Is Not

Treat the second to sixth rows as likely but unconfirmed until the 2027 brochure is out. The 2026 brochure is the best official reference for what to expect.

Session dates: sources disagree

For 2026, Careers360's news list shows the Session 2 scorecard came out on June 6, 2026, and the first iteration result on June 21. That suggests Session 2 finished before early June last year. Plan on Session 1 in April or May, and confirm once BITS announces dates.

Pattern and Marking

Per Career Plan B, there is no sectional time limit, you can move between subjects, and the paper can be changed before you submit. Indian Express says the same about changing answers. Two other details from Career Plan B, not confirmed elsewhere:

• After you answer all 130, you may unlock 12 bonus questions worth 36 more marks, 3 each from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Logical Reasoning. The maximum score would then be 426.
• Once you unlock the bonus section, you cannot return to edit your first 130 answers.

What Your Score Means: Calculated, Not Official

Each attempt earns +3 if right and costs 1 if wrong, so your score is attempts times (4 times accuracy minus 1). The table is arithmetic I ran, not data from BITS.

Three lessons follow:

• A guess is worth taking only if your chance of being right is above 25%, since that is the break-even point of +3 and -1.
• 110 attempts at 95% accuracy matches 130 attempts at 85%. Accuracy beats volume.
• On a bonus section, 12 questions at 75% accuracy add 24 marks, and at 50% add 12. Both are positive, though you give up the chance to revise.

Time works out to about 1.38 minutes per question across 130 questions, or 1.27 minutes if the 12 bonus questions are included.

Cutoffs: What the Last Four Years Show

These are the final-iteration closing scores from Careers360's compiled tables. Careers360 says the 2026 cutoff was released on September 19, 2026, and counselling ran in nine rounds. Scores are out of 390 unless the bonus section adds more.

Other branches, 2026

Careers360 notes that when more candidates share a score than there are seats, BITS breaks ties using PCM scores. So a score equal to the cutoff is not a guarantee.

Sources disagree on "target" scores

The 308 figure is a closing score for the last iteration. The higher numbers look like safe targets or older years, and I could not trace their basis. Use 308 as the reference cutoff, and aim higher to stay safe, since cutoffs moved by about 20 marks between 2024 and 2025.

Syllabus

Career Plan B says the syllabus follows Class 11 and 12 concepts with emphasis on speed. These topic lists are its high-yield summary, not the official syllabus, so check the brochure.

120-Day Plan (Count Back From Session 1)

Day 1 is 120 days before your booked Session 1 date. As an example, if your session falls on May 15, 2027, Day 1 is January 15. Shift the dates to your slot.

If your board exams fall inside the window

CBSE Class 12 exams began on February 17 in 2026. If your Day 1 is mid-January, your boards will overlap Days 30 to 75. In that stretch, drop BITSAT to a maintenance routine of one hour a day (English and Logical Reasoning plus 50 MCQs) and give the rest to boards. Then restart the full plan after the last paper. BITSAT or Another Exam?

Career Plan B describes BITSAT as a direct score merit list, not a percentile system, so your result rides on one test. Board marks matter for the eligibility filter, not for ranking.
