In short: A syllabus tracker that shows you exactly which chapters are done, which are pending, and which to prioritise based on marks-per-hour value. This post gives you the complete chapter list for every CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 subject (Science, Commerce, Humanities), with official weightage from the 2027 SQP, a completion status framework, and a prioritisation system. Print it, tick off chapters as you finish them, and use the weightage column to decide what to do next when time is short.
Last updated: October 29, 2026. Chapter lists and weightages are based on the CBSE 2027 Sample Question Papers and curriculum documents available at cbse.gov.in.
How to Use This Tracker
Step 1: Go through each subject's chapter list below.
Step 2: Mark each chapter as one of: ✅ Done | 🔄 In Progress | ❌ Not Started | ⚠️ Weak (done but not confident).
Step 3: Use the weightage column to prioritise. A chapter worth 8 marks that you have not started is more urgent than a chapter worth 2 marks.
Step 4: Calculate your completion percentage: (Done chapters × their marks) ÷ Total marks × 100.
Step 5: Update weekly. The tracker is only useful if it reflects your current state.

The Prioritisation System: Marks Per Hour
When time is short, use this formula to decide what to study next:
Priority Score = Chapter Weightage (marks) ÷ Hours needed to revise it
| Chapter | Marks | Hours to Revise | Priority Score | Action |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Integration (Class 12 Maths) | 15 | 6 | 2.5 | High priority |
| Probability (Class 12 Maths) | 8 | 3 | 2.7 | High priority |
| Organic Chemistry (Haloalkanes to Amines) | 28 | 10 | 2.8 | Highest priority |
| Electrostatics (Physics) | 16 | 5 | 3.2 | Highest priority |
| Solid State (Chemistry) | 4 | 3 | 1.3 | Lower priority |
| Polymers (Chemistry) | 3 | 2 | 1.5 | Lower priority |
Higher priority score = more marks per hour of revision = do this first when time is limited.
Completion Percentage Calculator
Use this to track your overall readiness:
| Completion % | What It Means | What to Do |
|---|---|---|
| Below 40% | Significant gaps remain | Focus on highest-weightage chapters first. Skip low-weightage chapters if time is very short. |
| 40-60% | Moderate coverage | Prioritise using the marks-per-hour system. Aim for 80% before the exam. |
| 60-80% | Good coverage | Fill remaining gaps. Start mock papers. |
| 80-90% | Strong coverage | Mock papers + weak chapter revision. |
| 90-100% | Excellent coverage | Mock papers + formula sheet review. Focus on presentation. |
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I complete 100% of the syllabus before starting mock papers?
No. Start mock papers when you are at 70-75% completion. Mock papers reveal gaps you did not know existed, and you need time to fill those gaps. Waiting for 100% completion before starting mocks is a common mistake.
What if I have not started a chapter 2 weeks before the exam?
Use the marks-per-hour system. If the chapter is worth 3 marks and takes 4 hours to learn, skip it and use those 4 hours on a chapter worth 8 marks that you are weak in. Not all chapters are equal.
How do I track chapters I have done but am not confident about?
Use the ⚠️ Weak status. These chapters need a second pass — not a full re-read, but a focused practice session on the specific concepts you are unsure about.
Where can I find the official CBSE chapter weightage?
The CBSE Sample Question Paper (SQP) for 2027 is available at cbse.gov.in → Academic → Sample Question Papers. The SQP includes a marking scheme that shows exactly how marks are distributed across chapters.
How often should I update my tracker?
Update it after every study session, or at least once a week, so your completion percentage stays accurate and weak chapters get a second pass in time.
Can I use this tracker for a state board?
The chapter lists here follow the CBSE Class 10 and 12 syllabus. For a state board, copy the same structure (chapter, status, weightage, marks per hour) and fill it with the chapter list from your board's official syllabus.
